This terracotta figure depicts a seated male deity holding weaponry. His nose is pinched and his eyes are applied pellets with the pupils delineated by recesses. He wears necklaces of applied bands of clay with incised decoration and a conical cap with further applied and incised detail.

In very good condition. Slight chip to the nose and the top of the cap. Restoration to front leg of the figure.

This figure is denoted as male by his lack of female attributes as well as his conical cap which is used to identify a male figure not only in terracotta figurines but also on cylinder seals of the period. His attribute of weaponry suggest that he may depict the Syro-Hittite deity Teshub, although this attribution is uncertain. Warrior deities of this type were common in the pantheons of the Ancient Near East with many different gods of the same culture having warrior aspects in varying circumstances.
